FAIR Data Space Demonstrator
Quick facts:
IndiScale GmbH is developing a demonstrator to link a research data infrastructure with a data space for the efficient reuse of quality-checked research data from battery manufacturing.
The project is part of the FAIR Data Spaces project to create a common data space for industry and research.
Timeframe: October 2024 – December 2024
Funding: This work was part of project FAIR-DS, supported by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research, funding reference: FAIRDS.
Project goals:
The RuQaD demonstrator (Reuse Quality-assured Data for Batteries demonstrator) allows bridging a research data infrastructure (POLIS) and an industrial data space (BatCAT) for the efficient reuse of quality-assured research data from the context of battery manufacturing. Find out more about the BatCAT project here.
In order to enable data spaces to offer great added value, the data and metadata must be of high quality. This poses a particular challenge when data is to be used that was collected before the data space was created. To meet this challenge, we integrate comprehensive quality checks into the publication process with our RuQaD demonstrator.
The RuQaD demonstrator reads (meta) data from Kadi4Mat and publishes it to the data space after a quality check. This workflow is made possible by the LinkAhead Crawler data integration and harmonization tool, among other things. This will be used in the demonstrator for processing the data records and for the connection to LinkAhead. For the quality check, RuQaD builds on the existing Demonstrator 4.2 and extends it.
In addition to the specific use case of the RuQaD demonstrator in battery research, the interfaces used and the design allow it to be easily extended to other use cases.
